If you do not already have a mobile specific or mobile friendly website, you are behind the curve.

What is the difference between mobile friendly and mobile specific?  Mobile friendly sites are optimized for mobile devices but they aren’t custom designed for them.  Mobile specific sites are custom designed and the content delivery is specific for mobile users.  The latter is the more expensive option. But if you have a large amount of traffic to your site, it is an investment that you should make.  The very least that you should do is make the necessary changes to your site to make it mobile friendly.

Mobile internet usage increased 17% from 2009 to 2010 and there aren’t signs of it slowing down anytime soon.

Nielsen predicts that by Christmas of this year 1 in 2 Americans will own a mobile internet accessible smart phone.  We’ve all been there. You need information and the only thing you have to access a certain website is your phone.  You find the site that you are looking for only to discover that you can’t watch videos on the site and you have to scroll from left-to-right so often that you close the browser in frustration and give up on your search altogether.  Don’t miss out on this valuable traffic because your site isn’t easily navigated on a mobile device.

We at PlattForm Higher Education feel so strongly about this issue that all of our web quotes now include the cost to create a mobile site.  Your website is the first place that most prospective students go to learn more about your institution. Their experience on your site should be as simple and stress-free as possible.  Updating your site to meet the demands of today’s web users is money well spent.
